XRPXRP · PaymentsLoading price…

Originally built by the OpenCoin team (later Ripple Labs), the XRP ecosystem includes RippleNet, the xCurrent bank-messaging product, and the Interledger Protocol (ILP) — the open standard for connecting different ledgers. Real-world adoption includes over 50 Japanese banks (Mizuho, Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, Resona) integrating via SBI Ripple Asia, and firms like Everis/NTT DATA building Interledger Java to connect banks' RTGS systems (Zengin, SEPA/TARGET2, Fedwire, CHAPS) to the XRP Ledger as a decentralized global liquidity marketplace. Today the ledger also supports tokenization, stablecoins, and DeFi directly.

How it works

  1. Bank sends payment
  2. xCurrent + ILP routes it
  3. XRP Ledger bridges currency
  4. Receiving bank pays out
